It was George Hepplewhite who wrote, in 1788, that 'furniture should unite elegance and utility and blend the useful with the agreeable'. And this utterly divine and highly pleasing Victorian, solid oak credenza clearly echos that sentiment!
With good proportions, presented here a hugely decorative, richly carved, late Victorian two door, credenza.
Of English origin and crafted from English oak, the piece carries 'glorious 'rough luxe' appeal.
Having rectangular moulded top, with a striking, 'swan neck, fixed back gallery.
Its paneled sides having unusual 'bow' form.
Comprising of two drawers, above a well proportioned, double door cupboard base.
Doors opening to reveal for a single shelf.
The piece comes complete with working key, and all original hardware.
Condition wise, there are a few, signs of general wear, by means of knocks and dents, all of which are reflected in the pricing. We would also wish to point out that internally, there are signs of old, historic woodworm activity to the cupboard base - however, all of which, were (as a precautionary measure) fully treated, prior to our commencing work on painting.
